As well as being competent tree climbers, we are all qualified and very experienced in tree felling.
We frequently undertake large scale felling projects for a multitude of different organistaions with the most recent of which being the clearance of fire damaged trees at Frensham Ponds Surrey, for the National Trust. The trees had to be felled because they had been killed by the fire that tore through the heathland in the summer of 2010, and due to the sensitive nature of the site and its SSI status, it was important that all trees were felled manually with chainsaws and the use of heavy machinery was kept to a minimum to reduce the damage caused to the remaining heath. Over a two month period approximately 90 acres were cleared and the heathland is already showing signs of recovery.
We also undertake less sensitive commercial felling contracts for organisations such as the Forestry Commission and we are well equipped with tractors, forwarders, and timber trailers and can therefore offer a cost effective and efficient tree felling service.
“Ben Nicholson Tree Services Ltd were contracted by the National Trust to do some remedial work at Frensham Little Pond after the recent fire on the common in July 2010. We were looking for a contractor which could prove that they had a good ecological understanding of the sensitive nature of the site. The way that Ben Nicholson Tree Services Ltd worked on site demonstrated that they were the best contractor for the job.”
